Education MEDIA ADVISORY: School Eviction Protest
“At midday today Orauta School will find themselves the victims of government thuggery from this Labour Government. However the Ministry of Education have chosen to hire guns from the private sector to do their dirty work for them,” noted Peter Osborne, the Libertarianz Spokesman to Deregulate Education today. He and other Libertarianz supporters will be at the school today to support the school trustees on this day of shame for state education.
Mr Osborne is referring to revelations that Opus International has been instructed by the Ministry of Education to evict all teachers from the premises of Orauta School by 12:00 noon today.
“The management of Orauta School had previously offered to buy the premises off the ministry but, predictably, this was declined. It must be understood that the government isn’t interested in the premises. In fact the buildings will probably be left to rot at the taxpayer’s expense. What the government is most concerned about is that this community wish to educate their own children without government interference. For this the state will make life as hard as possible for these people in order to halt this precedent.”
He says, “Politicians of all persuasions have one predominant characteristic, which is the need for power and control. They fully understand that to maintain their control they must have free run of our children’s minds. This government is showing that they will go to any length to keep this power. However, if Orauta School manage to survive this tyranny, the door will open for everyone else to gain the freedom to have their children educated as they see fit.”
“Libertarianz members will be present in support of this community today. Even if the rest of New Zealand doesn’t care for their own freedom, this community does and it would be criminal if these people were ignored, especially when we all have so much to gain by their courage.”
Osborne concludes, “A Libertarianz Government will hand all schools back to their communities and free education in its entirety from state interference. Parents and teachers, like those at Orauta, would never find themselves in the situation where they have to fight off thugs in order to teach their own children in ways that they feel are important. We recognise that this thuggery is not the legitimate role of government, and any government that uses such thuggery is not fit to govern New Freeland.”
