Candidate 2008
Richard Goode
Mana Candidate

Richard Goode is a Wellington-based computer programmer. He grew up in the Mana area and attended Paremata School and Mana College. He joined Libertarianz in 2003 as the Spokesman for Health Deregulation. He is currently the Libertarianz Spokesman on Drugs.

Under MMP we have a variety of political views represented in Parliament, but our MPs all have one thing in common. In one way or another, they want to run our lives for us. To anyone who wants to run my life for me, I say, "No, thanks!"

The Libertarianz philosophy is based on the principle of consent. I believe that the use of force (except in self-defence) against other people, especially the use of force by a government against its citizens, is morally wrong. I believe that that the only proper function of government is to protect its citizens and uphold their rights to live their lives as they choose.

As a Libertarianz activist, I am working to bring about an end to the suffering of tax-victims and to encourage New Zealanders to rely on themselves and each other rather than the state.

I support Libertarianz because it is the only political party that recognises that taxation is theft. The government treats working New Zealanders as cash cows. The fruits of your labour belong to you, not to the government, and you should not be bribed with your own money to keep the government in business.

I am a drug law reform campaigner. I support Libertarianz because it is the only political party that opposes the War on Drugs™ for the right reasons - because drug prohibition denies individual sovereignty and personal responsibility.

I have always recognised the enormous costs imposed upon individuals and society by drug prohibition. No drug was ever made safer by putting criminal gangs in charge of marketing and distribution. Drug prohibition increases the power of the gangs and puts vast amounts of money into the hands of the criminal underworld. Drug prohibition imposes enormous costs upon individuals and society which far outweigh the costs imposed on individuals and society by drug use itself.

Libertarianz is the only policital party whose policy is to end the War on Drugs™.

Vote Libertarianz! More freedom, less government.
